Sharepoint 2007 and Sharepoint Designer 2007 Beta 2 Release

May 16th, 2006

It was announced at the SharePoint Conference going on right now (first one ever actually) that the SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint Designer 2007 beta 2 is going be launched next Tuesday May 23, 2007.Sharepoint

If Sharepoint Designer sounds like a new product to some of you it’s because it is the future replacement product for Microsoft Frontpage.  I’ve been working with the early beta and am impressed so far, will I actually switch over and stopping using my Macromedia / Adobe suite?  The jury is still out on that one.  Look for an article soon with a early review on Sharepoint Designer and a full-featured writeup on Sharepoint 2007.

We’ll release the Sharepoint 2007 review in two phases, with the first article being focused on the feature set, comparisons, etc.  The second article will take a while longer as we really want to put the product through its paces in our test lab since a) it’s one of our primary focuses as a consultancy and therefore a major source of revenue and b) we have to be careful to insure our review is in sync with the current state of release of Microsoft.  In other words, be patient.
